Hey, I’m Matt.

I’m (currently) an Investor, Advisor, and Consultant for Business Startups, SMB’s, and Nonprofits. In the past I’ve been a lot of other things. I’ve been (and thus still am) a: Mathematician (this was my first love), a Linguist, a Teacher (here and abroad, multiple times), a Disaster Relief Worker, a Textbook Author, a Software Engineer, a Data Engineer, a Technical Product Manager, a Nonprofit Consultant, a Finance Blogger, a Philanthropist, a Career Coach, and a Data Scientist. 

And that’s just like work stuff.

There are four other things you should know about me:

1. I’m an Intuitive Mathematician (sort of like Beth Harmon is in the “Queen’s Gambit” show). I just see patterns - it is something that happens to me. I don’t have to try and it happens pretty quickly / instantly.

2. I have a talent for accurately identifying gifted people and seeing the special gift that makes anyone rare, unique, and powerful. “I see the Outliers” and “I see the outlier parts within you.”

3. When I find something I’m passionate about that lights me up, I go all in after it. I’m driven, but it’s more than that. I work and live by following my passion. Solving problems is fun to me, and I always go hard after the most fun problem I see in front of me. (It’s unwise to bet against me when I’m in this mode.)

4. I am (naturally) recklessly generous and radically human-centered. I really care about people and how we treat each other. I aim to live a life of integrity, honesty, and respect. I’m human so I get it wrong a lot (like we all do), but I’m always curious, learning, and iterating. I think how we do anything is how we do everything and the how is just as important as the what.

Money doesn’t really drive me (even though I work with it and work towards mastery of growing it). What drives me is: “how can I pursue mastery and excellence in my field(s) of choice and also be a part of supporting other talented people AND the growth, reform, and change I want to see in the world.” It’s: “Oh I think I can help that person or business or organization go from good to great. And I think the world needs more of who they are and what they are bringing to the table.”

I’m an accelerator of good people and good ideas doing cool, interesting, and helpful shit in the world.

It’s fun, challenging, and fulfilling and if you like to have fun like I like do, we should talk.
